Dolphin Update June 30: First Away Meet Details

Greetings from the USVI!! This week's update has some basic information regarding what to expect.

1) Note changes to this week's practice schedule:

-Regular practice schedule Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

-Regular AM practice on Thursday July 3.

-NO PM practice on Thursday July 3.

-NO practice on Friday July 4.

2) Tuesday Meet Details:

a) First priority: filling our volunteer slots for Tuesday. We have less roles to fill at away meets, but Stroke & Turn, Timers and Clerk are still high in need. Sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0549AEAD28A1F5C07-57254589-2025#/

b) Arrival Details: Report to Broadway pool at 5PM. They will not open the gates prior to this. Please have your swimmer numbers written on the swimmer's arms before you arrive so you are ready for the 5:25PM. There is no official check in required. Broadway has had some changes to their pool and occupancy, so unless I get other details to share tomorrow, just plan to find our team set up area upon arrival.

c) Juniors will not race.

d) Weather. It appears potentially stormy tomorrow. Pack accordingly. We swim in rain, and will clear the deck for any thunder and lightning according to the Broadway pool rules. VSL rules state that all meets must start by 7PM and end by 10PM. The meet can be counted as legal once event 31 has been completed. It will be between the meet directors (Keri Davis, will be filling in for me) to determine the course of action as needed by weather

e) What event is my child swimming? Coaches will be working on meet entries today. I will work with Keri to make sure the Lineup by Swimmer is available to you as soon as possible (which is either after 10PM tonight; or first thing in the AM). We will also sync to swimmingly fan app in the morning.

If you haven't yet done so:

STEP 1: Download the Swimmingly Fan app. Note: this is different than the Swimmingly App for volunteers.

STEP 2: -You will see two tabs (Clubs, Swimmers)

-Click on Clubs & Search for our club: "Spotswood Country Club: 2023 - Summer Season - Valley Swim League.

STEP 3: Once you have followed our club, click on the club name. It will take you to a list of our scheduled meets. Click on tonight's meet "Westover hosts SCC." This will take you to the meet lineup for tonight.

STEP 5: Once in the meet lineup, you will see two tabs "Events" and "My Swimmers"

STEP 6: Click on "My Swimmers". If this screen is blank, proceed to click on "Follow Swimmers." This will take you to a list of our swimmers. Select the circle next to your swimmer(s) names. This will show you what events each will swim. It will also update with results throughout the meet.

If you are concerned about your child's event, please talk with the coaches. It is best not to change things (for the sake of the clerk), however, it is very easy to scratch individual events. If your child is signed up for a relay, please encourage your swimmers to participate.

4) Heat Sheet Ads: I will be sending out information on the heat sheet ad opportunities for the champs booklet next week. This is a great way to support our team, to encourage your swimmers, to advertise your business, etc... Quarter page ads: $50; Half page ads: $100; Whole page ads: $150.

5) We will also begin sending information on the banquet and end of season activities with next week's update.
