FINAL Dolphin Update: July 31, 2026

Greetings, Dolphins! Whether or not you are participating in Champs, this is our final communication of the 2026 Season.

1) Season Feedback: This was our first year operating under a committee based leadership structure, and we would appreciate feedback on your honest feedback. b) Post Champs Details:

i. RESULTS: will be printed and posted on the wall across from the gym during the event itself. Once we depart, results from champs will be recorded on the Meet Mobile App. You can download that app and find the results by searching 2026 VSL. It does require a subscription (6.49/month or 19.99/year).

ii. RIBBONS: all swimmers who place in the top 8 of their event will have earned a ribbon at champs. Champs ribbons will be at the club in the ribbon box. If you need help to receive yours, please let us know.

3) Join us for another Club Flick and Float Night at the end of August. Details will be sent as soon as we know that date.

4) Closing Out Accounts: if you have something else also to still pay for please refer to the following list and Venmo (@Spotswood-Dolphins) or give cash/check to the Dolphins accordingly:

1. Pizza at post meet parties.

2. Head Sheet ad sales.

3. Non Member Fees.

4. T-shirt sponsor donations.

5) Mark Your Calendars for 2027 Tentative Dates (which all depend on JMU's availabilty for Champs):

1. Practices will likely begin the day after Memorial Day on Tuesday June 1, 2027.

2. 2027 Tentative Meet Schedule:

   1. Tuesday June 15: Mock Meet

   2. Tuesday, June 22: @ Broadway

   3. Tuesday June 29: @ Westover

   4. Tuesday July 6: Home v Ashby

   5. Tuesday July 13: Home v Massanutten

   6. Tuesday July 20: Home v ERRA

   7. Saturday July 31: Champs

Heading into the last week

Last week, Spotswood competed against Ashby and a number of our swimmers had great swims!

• Riley dropped nearly 9 seconds on her 25-Free.

• London dropped over 5 seconds on her 25-Back.

• Nate dropped almost 6 seconds on his 25-Back.

Our young swimmers are coming on strong and prepping our team for a great future.

Windsor has been working hard in practice all week, and it showed! She won her heat in a great freestyle race against Ashby. Way to go, Windsor, for being the Golden Dolphin of the Ashby Meet!

This past week, Spotswood competed against Massanutten in a very short meet, canceled midway through due to a thunderstorm. We were overjoyed to get this meet in, and our swimmers came out to compete!

• Both of our 13-14 Mixed 200 Relays dropped time (and a huge shout out to the 11-12-year-olds who swam up to make these relays happen!).

• Garrett dropped nearly 6 seconds to cruise to a first place in the 6U-25 Free.

• Jack dropped over 25 seconds in his 25-Back.

• Avery, Tyler, Hope, and Lila placed 1-2-3 in a SCC sweep of the 8U Back.

Great job, Dolphins!

Whipp joyfully and tirelessly worked very hard these past few weeks and was the Golden Dolphin of the Massanutten meet. Not only does he shine in his races, he is one of the best cheerleaders on our team, always cheering on and supporting his fellow dolphins. Good job, Whipp!

Today at Fun Friday, the kids competed in a roaring round of water Jeopardy. Thank you to the Robinson family for providing bagels for our team!

Our swimmers of the week are:

Weston has been coming to practice and showing great team spirit! He listens and tries hard every time he is in the water! We are happy to have Weston as a part of our team.

Cooper is a great team player. He loves swimming and socializing! His favorite thing about being a dolphin is having so many friends on the team. Keep it up, Coop!

We are grateful for such a kind team and love seeing the kids succeed at reaching their own personal goals. Get ready for champs; you never know how many personal records will be crushed.

Dolphin Update: Dual Meet Wrap Up & Tentative 2027 Meet Schedule

Greetings, Dolphins!

While it was unfortunate to have to call our final dual meet early, it was absolutely the right call given the severity of the storms moving through the area. Safety always comes first, and I am grateful for the good fortune of having just completed Event 31 when lightning struck during our meet at Massanutten. Congratulations on the win, as well.

Even if you are unable to attend Champs, please don't check out of team communications yet! There will be forthcoming information on Tuesday's Season Wrap Up Party as well as an end of season survey that will help our leadership create the best future Dolphin experience. As far as meets are concerned, please be aware:

1) 2026 Dual Meets are now complete:

a) RESULTS: remain on the SwimminglyFan app.

b) RIBBONS: all swimmers should have received ribbons for any and all events he/she participated in this season (except in cases of DQ). Coaches distribute these during practices. Please let me know if your swimmer is missing any.

2) Champs information was sent earlier this week. IF YOU HAVE NOT YET DCLARED YOUR SWIMMER PLEASE DO SO TODAY BY 8PM.
