Our second and final home meet of the season is tonight as we take on Westover.
Please read this post in its entirety. There is a significant chance of thunderstorms this evening, and we want everyone to know what to expect if weather impacts the meet.
1) Before You Leave Home
Please help us keep the meet running smoothly by arriving ready to swim.
Before you arrive at the pool, please complete the following:
Check the Swimmingly Fan app for your swimmer's events.
Write your swimmer number on their upper left arm (triathlon style).
Write your swimmer's event numbers on the back of their hand.
Pack everything you'll need for the evening (refer to the meet guide list).
At this point in the season, swimmers should arrive knowing their events so coaches can focus on coaching rather than looking up event assignments. The official Heat Sheet is attached below. Individual swimmer events can also be viewed in the Swimmingly Fan app or below in the LineUpBySwimmer document.
2) Tonight's Schedule
4:30 PM: Swimmer arrival and check-in
Check in with the team at the front entrance. DO NOT USE THE SIDE ENTRANCE.
Make sure swimmer numbers and event numbers are already written.
4:50PM: Guest Team Arrival
5:00ā5:25 PM: Spotswood warm-ups
5:00 PM: Junior Dolphins arrive
5:25 PM: Coach Lucy will organize Junior Dolphins.
Approximately 5:30ā5:35 PM: Junior Dolphins race
Junior Dolphins are welcome to stay for as much or as little of the meet as they would like after their race.
5:40 PM: Volunteer meetings
6:00 PM: Meet begins
3) Parking
Westover has a medium-sized team, so parking should be a little easier than last week's meet. Please help us by parking perpendicular in the grass whenever possible to leave parking spaces available for our guests. Similarly to last week, the turnaround area will be closed for spectators. Please do not park there if you anticipate leaving before the meet ends.
4) Volunteers Still Needed
Thank you to everyone who has already signed up!
We still need volunteers for:
2 First Half Timers
5 Second Half timers
Two second-half Relay Take-Off Judges
Clerk of Court
Hospitality (please sign up for other roles first. This role can be managed with staff if needed as a last resort, and the other positions are imperative to operations).

5) Weather
There is a strong chance of thunderstorms this evening. If thunder or lightning occurs, we will follow the directions of the lifeguards and the pool's weather policy.
Thunder: Swimmers must exit the pool.
Lightning: Everyone must clear the pool deck and report to their vehicles.
During any delay, Meet Directors from both teams will determine the best course of action. Depending on the circumstances, the meet may resume after the delay, be suspended and completed on another day, or be called if necessary. We'll communicate any changes as quickly as possible: through the REMIND app or swimmingly messaging system on email. VSL rules state that all meets must start by 7PM, conclude by 10PM. Even with delays or cancellations, the meet will count as complete as long as we get to event 31.
We will have tents up to cover volunteers in case of rain, if storms should arise then we may need extra help taking tents down on the fly!
6) Post Meet Pool Party and Pizza:
Weather permitting, we'll celebrate with our post-meet pool party!
One of the best traditions of the Dolphins season is staying after the meet to enjoy time together as a team.
š Pizza
š Night swimming
š Snack Shack open after the visiting team departs
The party typically continues until approximately 10:00 PM, with lifeguards on duty throughout.
7) Post Meet/Tomorrow: Meet Ribbons
Hilary will print ribbon labels on Wednesday morning, as usual. They can be picked up at the end of the AM practice or at evening practice.
If you have any questions about tonight's meet, please contact our team Meet Director and Swimmingly Rep: Hilary Irons.
