Dolphin Update: July 16, 2025

The end of dual meets always makes me feel down. Just when we get into the groove, the season comes to an end! It is hard to think about not getting to see all of you each day, too. We have 10 days until Champs and LOTS OF FUN LEFT.

Along with that fun is some administrative work. Please take action on the following items:

1. Stay after Thursday evening practice for the Flick and Float! Hopefully, the stormy weather will hold off!

   
   

2. Champs:

   2. IMPORTANT: Coaches are working on lineups which must be ACCURATELY SUBMITTED BY FRIDAY AT 5PM UNDER FINANCIAL PENALTY IF CHANGED.

      1. For champs, the VSL uses our swimmingly system to set up the meet; but then it is transferred into Meet Mobile to be used at JMU. This means we cannot change things easily!! We do not use our swimmingly numbers for champs; so it is imperative that your kid is in the right place at the right time, in the correct event and in the correct lane.

      2. It does not mean that you will be charged if say, your kid gets sick and suddenly must scratch on the day of Champs.

      3. It DOES mean, that if we enter your swimmer in IM, and they want backstroke instead then it will cost $75 to change it.

         
         

3. Speaking of our coaches: it is that time of year. Please consider donating money through venmo that will go directly to our coaches as a bonus.

   1. Did you know? Our coaches work SO HARD. Not only are they are two practices a day; but the coaching team also spends countless minutes planning workouts, getting to know swimmers; strategizing down to the tenth of a second which relay will be most likely to win; which swimmer showed great heart and or skill development in a week; creating fun and encouraging competition. Additionally - from my perspective as director, this particular team has been outstanding to work with and I want to see them return!! Please consider this as you decide what extra you might contribute. We will be giving gifts to staff at the Awards Party on Tuesday!

   2. The Irons family will not be in attendance, unfortunately. We had some very specific dates in which we could take time together as a family this summer and between meets was the best choice for us at the time. I am VERY SORRY TO MISS because I love the chance to celebrate our team. Keri Davis is handling all the details for this, so please direct your questions to her.
